Willie George Tucker died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at 7:40 a.m. at Grand Manor Nursing-Rehabilitation Center in St. Louis, MO.
Tucker was born the sixth child of 12 to the union of Howard and Margaret Tucker of Starkville on June 19, 1948. He was known to close family and friends as Brother.
He attended the W.C. Henderson Elementary and High School and joined the U.S. Army in March of 1971, where he served his term and was honorably discharged. He later attended the Mary Holmes College in 1975.
Brother met Jessie Willis of Drew in 1972 and later was united in holy matrimony in August 1973. From this union two children were born.
He was preceded in death by parents, Howard and Margaret; sisters, Alice Gray Hardwict, Virginia Williams, Henrietta W. Smith and Annie M. Schaffer; and brothers Johnny Tucker and Howard Tucker Jr.
He is survived by daughter, Quita (Terry) Jordan of Belleville, Ill.; son, W. Marquel Tucker of East St. Louis, Ill., grandchildren, Demeka and Marco Pearson, whom he adored; sisters, Margaret D. Hall of St. Louis, Mo., Grady (George) Reynolds of Gary, Ind., Emma McMoore, of Starkville and Vera Allen of St. Louis, Mo; brothers, Elder Tommy Tucker (Denice) of Dallas and Henry Tucker of Starkville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at New Life Community Church, 1919 State St. East St. Louis, Ill. Interment will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
