TOUGALOO – Even facing one of the state's top teams, the Starkville High boys basketball team continued their early-season roll.
Facing N0. 3 Callaway on Saturday in the Thanksgiving Classic at Tougaloo College, the top-ranked Yellowjackets came away with a 70-58 win.
The victory improved SHS to 5-0 overall for the season.
Starkville jumped on top of Callaway early, surging to a 23-13 lead after the first quarter.
The Jackets held a 34-25 advantage at halftime before heading on to the victory.
Jacolby Mobley paced Starkville's offensive attack, scoring a team-high 21 points.
Mississippi State signee Gavin Ware recorded a double-double for the Jackets, scoring 15 points and hauling in 14 rebounds.
Tori Rice added 13 points and eight rebounds for SHS, while Steve Brand scored 11 points.
Starkville will strive for it's sixth-straight win on Tuesday when the Jackets host Louisville.
The action will begin with a girls game at 6 p.m. with the boys game immediately following.
