The Lady Rockets led 29-23 at halftime, then pulled away in the second half for the victory.
"Beginning with the second quarter, we really just didn't play well the rest of the game," said SHS head coach Kristie Williams. "Our mental toughness was lacking. After the first quarter, we dropped our heads and we just didn't play hard.
"(Neshoba Central) hit a couple of 3-pointers before halftime and it was like the momentum swung their way. From then on, they carried the momentum over to the second half. We just didn't play Lady Jacket ball. If you don't come to play in the district, you're going to get beat every time."
Starkville saw its record drop to 4-3 overall and 0-1 in division play.
The Lady Jackets will look to rebound on Friday when they host Grenada.
"We've got to go out the next couple of days and mentally prepare to fight a tough team in Grenada who will come out trying to win," said Williams.
