The Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers picked up a big road win against a good defense.
After playing a game on Friday night, the Lady Vols had little time to rest as they traveled to McComb on Saturday, but the trip was made worth it with a 49-37 division win.
The Lady Vols (13-1, 4-0) were facing a good Lady Pioneer defense, but they were able to pick up the double digit win to remain undefeated in division play.
With Parklane's good defense and after they jumped out to an early lead, SA head coach Glenn Schmidt wanted to work on some half court offensive schemes they could use sometime this season while getting her bench players some experience.
Even though Anna Lea Little was the only Lady Vol to score in double digits with 13 points, the rest of the team got in on the scoring as well as for the second night in a row, Schmidt got to play everybody. Nora Carroll finished with nine points and Sallie Kate Richardson added eight. Brittany Jacks scored five points off the bench and Schmidt said she did really she did really well as running the different offensive schemes while providing a spark for the team.
The SA boys dropped a decision in the nightcap at Parklane, but the details on the game were not available.
