ABERDEEN — Mrs. Roberta Edwards Mays, 83, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at North Miss. Medical Center in Tupelo.
Mays was born July 15, 1928, in Oktibbeha County Mississippi to the late Essie McClelland and Hugh Edwards. She was a homemaker and a postal worker at Prairie Post Office for 20 years. Mrs. Mays was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and formerly of the Muldon Community in Monroe County. She married Richard Jasper “Buster” Mays, who preceded her on Jan. 20, 1986.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery West Point.
Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Monday at Calvert Funeral Home.
Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Pfost (Jim) of Colonial Heights, Va.; sons, Richard Mays and Todd Mays, both of Aberdeen; step-mother, Christine Edwards of Columbus; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Boone of Sanger, Texas, and Juanita Brewer of Mountain Home, Ark.; brother, Clorus Edwards (Joyce) of Terry; and a host of nieces and nephews, and grand-dogs.
Two sisters, Dorothy Holley and Hughdell Stokes, preceded her in death.
Pallbearers will be Mike Mays, Lee King, Buddy Mobley, Buddy Griggs, Eddie Howell and Donnie Collier.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Felix and Annette Jackson, Patsy McKee, Buddy and Hazel Mobley, Jimmy Raigins, Hugh and Leta Mae Hill, and Danny and Donna Honnoll.
