National signing day is fast approaching for college coaches and prospects alike. On the Mississippi State campus, they’re looking for a big-time quarterback to add to the roster that already includes Tyler Russell and Dak Prescott.
The Bulldogs took a step Tuesday towards bringing in East Mississippi Community College standout Bo Wallace as the MSU staff extended an offer his way.
“Coach Mullen called and told me today that I have an offer and that he wants me,” said Wallace, who led the Lions to the 2011 NJCAA national title. “We talked about all the quarterbacks he has worked with before and that he wants me to be the next guy.”
Wallace set new NJCAA single-season records for most passing yards (4,604), most yards of total offense (4,810) and most touchdowns thrown (53). He also completed 67 percent of his passes with only 14 interceptions and could also be considered a rushing threat as he rushed for 206 yards on 61 carries with five scores.
Wallace would be allowed to enroll in school for the spring semester for whichever school he selected and that’s something Wallace is very aware of.
“(Mullen) wants me to come in this weekend or next Tuesday for an official visit," Wallace said. "I may not go to Baylor now or if I do, I will be coming to MSU next Tuesday. Coach Mullen said that he wants me to decide so I can start to school Thursday or Friday. And I will make that decision so I can enroll early.”
Wallace began his career at Arkansas State where he received a redshirt year before transferring to EMCC. He now has a number of offers to select from including Baylor, Louisville, Indiana and Mississippi State.
