SA girls lose fourth game of the season

February 4, 2012

JACKSON – The Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers got off to a slow start and lost for only the fourth time this season, a 47-38 decision at Jackson Prep.

Starkville Academy, now 28-4 this season, fell behind 12-0 and coach Glenn Schmidt said it was due to not making shots.

"We had some great looks, but they just didn't go down," Schmidt said. "Give credit to Jackson Prep because they played tough defensively.
"We came back and made a game of it and I was proud of that, but we have to learn what we need to do when we're not making shots."

The Lady Vols only shot 28 percent (14-of-51) from the field, but did manage to out-rebound their hosts 31-21.

Anna Lea Little led SA with 15 points, while Sallie Kate Richardson was the only other player to score in double digits with 10 points.

Richardson had a double-double as she also pulled down 14 rebounds.
