Dr. Robert Eugene Mangum, 82, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 in Starkville.
Dr. Mangum was born in Kansas City, Mo., on Sept. 27, 1929 to the late Eva Pearl and Carl Dickerson Mangum.
Bob received his bachelor’s degree from St. Louis University in 1956, a masters degree in education from Indiana University in 1963 and his doctorate in 1967 from the University of Missouri.

He became department head of applied behavioral studies at OSU and did consulting work for the proposed College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University.

Bob was an avid MSU sports fan and loved interacting with athletes, especially baseball players. As a “foster parent” he spent many hours discussing the game and watching the young men develop life skills. Bob loved his family, his church and the Starkville community.
