Miss. Horse Park hosts circus today

February 24, 2012

The Piccadilly Circus comes to town this afternoon and evening for two shows at the Mississippi Horse Park, located at 716 East Poorhouse Road in Starkville. Show times are 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and tickets are available at and at the Miss. Horse Park box office.
Bricklee Miller, Miss. Horse Park facility director, said the last time the park hosted a circus was two years ago. The community loved it, she said.
“The first performance was a complete sellout,” Miller said. “It’s such a family oriented event, and that’s really what we want to be recognized for in our community –– wholesome family entertainment.”
Miller said the Piccadilly Circus received high recommendations, and she expects it to be a great show.
“They are offering some VIP seating, but most is general admission,” Miller said. “Therefore, it’s first-come, first-serve. I suggest people get here when the doors open, which is an hour prior to show time.”
According to its website, Piccadilly Circus has everything one would expect to see at a circus.
Zack Garden, Piccadilly Circus show manager, said the group has an exciting show planned.
“Piccadilly Circus celebrates 25 years entertaining families throughout North America, and we’ve pulled out all the stops,” Garden said. “You’ll see the Elephant Extravaganza, where an elephant stands on one foot; Motorcycle Madness has motorcycle daredevils somersaulting and spinning in (the) Globe of Doom; Katunga the giant jungle monster; the fabulous Mongolian Angels, our outstanding contortionists; the White Tiger Spectacular; crazy comedy with circus clowns and even a 1923 Model T with a mind of its own. In addition we’ll have daring aerialists, cirque artists and more.”
Garden said attendees can expect an hour and a half of excitement and fun at Piccadilly Circus.
Free children’s tickets have been distributed at all elementary schools, pre-schools, day care centers and churches, Garden said. Free tickets can also be found at sponsoring businesses in the area.
“Special buy-one-get-one-free adult tickets are available online at,” he said. “It is a limited time offer.”
