The annual Sudduth Elementary Kids’ Fair is a free event for the whole family to enjoy Saturday.
Geared toward children, and open to the entire community, the Kids’ Fair provides a multitude of activities which center around heath and fitness.
“The goal of Kids’ Fair is to give families of Starkville an opportunity to enjoy time together while participating in many activities that encourage the children to be active and fit,” Kathy Snell, fair co-chairman, said.
A variety of stations will feature sporting events such as a football toss, basketball throw, putt-putt golf and arts and crafts projects like bracelet making, thumbprint art and face painting.
“The kids will have tons of fun things to do,” Boo Matthews, fair co-chairman, said. “Other active events are the inflatables, the limbo and freeze dancing stations, a ring toss, musical chairs and several other activities.”
Before the games start, children can decorate their own loot bags to make sure they collect the prizes they win. Mississippi State University athletes and Bully himself will attend the fair, as well at OCH Regional Medical Center fitness instructors who will lead the children in some easy exercises.
Healthy snacks will be offered free of charge to help promote healthy eating, and pizza and drinks will be available for purchase.
The fair will also give parents and community members the opportunity to learn more about the new playground project at the elementary school. The Sudduth PTA will hold a fundraiser during the event where parents can purchase a tile with their child’s artwork on it for the new gratitude wall in the school. The first tile will cost $25 and each additional tile purchased will be $5, with all the proceeds going toward the playground fund.
“All of the games and activities are free, healthy and kid-friendly, making this a great way to spend a Saturday morning with your children,” Snell said. “This also makes a great event for incoming kindergartners to the Sudduth family as many Sudduth Elementary teachers will be manning the booths. This will give parents and children a chance to get to know the teachers as well as families already involved with Sudduth.”
This year’s fair will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon, rain or shine, at Sudduth Elementary.
