An autopsy has confirmed a Starkville resident recently whose deceased body was found near Oktibbeha County Lake Wednesday died from head trauma, Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt said Thursday.
Family members of Melvin Robinson escorted Oktibbeha County Sheriff's deputies to the Club Road area, where Robinson's body was first discovered. Robinson was 51 years old at the time of his death.
Hunt said the cause of the trauma cannot be confirmed at this time.Â
"We have to work through getting all the statements from everybody involved," Hunt said.
Hunt said there are no obvious signs of foul play at this time.
OCSO Sheriff's Deputy Chadd Garnett said Wednesday deputies responded to the report after the family had already made the discovery.
“(The body was found) where Club Road and Walter Bell road intersect,” he said. “(The area where he was found) is a small pasture, woods and another pasture.”
Hunt said more information about the incident is forthcoming.Â
