County sees 3 wrecks in 3 days

County emergency officials responded to a number of car accidents during the week.
The East Oktibbeha County Volunteer Fire Department, Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office and paramedics from OCH Regional Medical Center responded to a wreck at approximately 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on Mayhew Road where a vehicle rolled over. Two of the four passengers were transported to OCH for medical treatment.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. Thursday, an eastbound pickup trunk collided with a 18-wheeler which parked on the side of Poorhouse Road East. According to County Fire Coordinator Kirk Rosenhan, the semi was parked on the wrong side of the street with the headlights on. When the driver saw the headlights, he attempted to stop but due to slick road conditions the pickup hit the semi.
Sheriff’s deputies, the District 5/Oktoc Volunteer Fire Department and OCH paramedics responded to the scene. The driver was transported to OCH but was later transferred to Jackson for medical treatment.
Officials responded to a single-vehicle accident on Highway 182 near Cannon Road on Friday morning. The driver was not on the scene when first responders arrived but later returned with minor injuries and did not require medical assistance, Rosenhan said.
