A Starkville man who was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle while in a motorized wheelchair on North Montgomery Street last week has died.
Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt said Brad Hall, 30, of 905 North Montgomery St. Apt. 203 was pronounced dead Saturday at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. His official cause of death was multi-system trauma.
SPD responded to the collision at 7:57 p.m. March 27. Hall was between Green Hill Drive and Boardtown Village when he was hit.
SPD Sergeant Shawn Word said Hall was going northbound in the southbound lane in his motorized wheelchair when he was struck by a driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Hall said the device is not a street-legal vehicle, and was not lighted or marked for drivers to see at night.
“It’s a tragic situation where ... I don’t know how it could have been prevented,” Word said. “Right now it’s still under investigation, so I’m not putting faults on either one of them until I see where it leads.”
