A Starkville man faces charges of robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a controlled substance after breaking into a house and stealing a video game console.
Gerod Miles, 34, of 1000 Cotton Row, is held in Oktibbeha County Jail after he was arrested by Starkville Police Department officers.
According to a release, SPD officers responded to 907 Cotton Row Monday to take report of a robbery which took place at that location June 9. It was reported that Miles “forced his way into the victim’s residence and took the victim’s PlayStation 3.”
That led to a search of Miles’ residence, where detectives found the stolen video game console, a .22 caliber pistol, 42 dosage units of Alprazolam, 32 dosage units of hydrocodone, 21 dosage units of Clonazapam, 11 dosage units of Diazepam, 19 dosage units of Percocet and 25 grams of marijuana.
Along with the felony charges of robbery, firearm possession and controlled substance possession, Miles also faces five counts of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. SPD Detective Scott Carrithers said his bond has been set at $52,385.
Carrithers confirmed Miles has a prior felony charge of possession of narcotics. The reason for the nine-day wait between the incident and the report, he said, is still being investigated.
He said anyone with information pertaining to the case is asked to call SPD at 662-323-4135.
