Madkin and Moulds host own radio show

Wayne Madkin and Eric Moulds, are two of the most well-known athletes to ever don the maroon and white for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

If only they could have been paired together on the gridiron, the records they could have set would be many.

While Moulds may have never been on the receiving end of a Madkin scoring toss, the two have hooked up now to relive the days gone by and share some insight into what it means to play for Mississippi State with the Madkins and Moulds Show.

The pair of former Bulldogs will be on the web with Bulldog Sports Radio each Monday, Wednesday and Friday as they share their thoughts on all things MSU and whatever else crosses their mind.

“We have a lot of autonomy to talk about a lot of topics, just talk about what’s on our mind, and have a little fun,” said Madkin, who still stands and the winningest quarterback in school history. “We talk a lot about Mississippi State athletics, but we can talk about just about anything. We are just having fun trying to give former players a vehicle to talk about things.”

The show is centered around giving fans a different perspective on MSU athletics, a player’s perspective.

“That’s what’s exciting," Madkin said. "We get to share our stories. It is like we are talking at a bar or in a lockerroom. We get to laugh and talk a lot.

“People want to hear what Darryl Wilson has to say. They want to hear what coach (Jackie) Sherrill has to say and what he thinks about the university. People want to hear what former athletes have to say.”

The list of guests range from Wilson to Sherrill, Mario Haggan to Fred Smoot and each show is as entertaining as it is informative. However, one shouldn’t go into the show thinking Madkin and Moulds are afraid of the difficult topics.

“We aren’t only talking about the successful stories. We talked with Dontae Walker and the things he did wrong,” said Madkin. “Coming from and talking to former players…you kind of get more out of them. They say things they might not say to just anyone.

“He talked about a lot of things that he was going through that I didn’t know. He talked about the fact that he was really sensitive and was worried about what people thought about him. He didn’t want to let people down.”
Madkin, the former signal-caller for the Bulldogs, is a natural behind the microphone simply because this is some that he feels passionately about.
“We just wanted to reintroduce former players and show the fans how much they truly love the university,” Madkin said. “These guys shed blood and tears for this university and they have a good perspective for what it is about.”
