Sonny Breland

Ester John (Sonny) Breland Jr., 67, died Thursday, August 9, 2012 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. 

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012 at Meadowview Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Middleton and Jason Green conducting the service.
Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, and 1-2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012 at Meadowview Baptist Church.
Welch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Breland was retired director of maintenance and housekeeping for Starkville Manor and was in sales for Gary's Pawn and Gun.  He was an adjunct professor at East Mississippi Community College.  He also had worked as a potter and in construction for many years.  Mr. Breland enjoyed photography, gun and knife collecting and reading.  He was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Baswell Breland of Starkville; daughters, Emily Breland Ford (Guy) of Sturgis, Kaye Morgan Runnels (Larry) of Collierville, Tenn. and Janet Morgan Hurst (Nathan) of Trinity, Fla.; sons, Andy Morgan (Lindsey) of Starkville, and Barry Morgan (Leigh Ann) of Sturgis; sisters, Estelle McClendon of Leaf, and Normaceil Schneider of Citronelle, Ala.; brother, Bud Breland of Sonora, Calif.; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ester John Breland Sr. and Opal Wall Breland; and sister, Bette McClendon.
