Mrs. Ellen Maylene Shurden Phillips Kendrick, 82, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 at Adaton Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 at Welch Funeral Home.
Welch Funeral Home of Starkville is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Kendrick was born on Oct. 9, 1930 in Cleveland to the late Terrell M. Shurden and Bertha Gladys Baker.
Ellen was a retired phone operator with OCH Regional Medical Center and Mississippi State University. She was a loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and generous of spirit.
Ellen is survived by her son, James Laird Phillips of Starkville; daughter-in-law, Beverly Lynn Phillips; brother, Travis M. Shurden; and grandchildren, Courtney Ellen Phillips, Kyle Bryant Phillips, Tamarie Jean Phillips, Crystal Lynn Phillips, Christopher Dean Phillips and Matthew Ty Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Terrell M. Shurden and Gladys Baker Shurden; first husband, Hayward M. Phillips; second husband, Cecil Kendrick; son, Hayward Mearl Phillips Jr. (Bimbo); sister, Annette Moore; and brother, Preston Shurden.
