Mr. David Wesley Evers Jr., 78, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.
A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father John Bohn officiating.
Visitation will be held 9-11 a.m. at the church prior to service.
Mr. Evers was born July 13, 1934 in Belzoni to the late David W. Evers and Margerite Chandler Evers. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University and member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Mr. Evers was a long time fan and supporter of Mississippi State University, belonging to the Alumni Association and Bulldog Club. He retired as Senior Marketing Specialist for Exxon Corporation. Mr. Evers was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Kaye Tompkins Evers of Starkville; sons, David Wesley Evers III of Richmond Va., Jonathan Evers of Jefferson Parish, La., Robert Evers of Germantown Tenn. and Stephen Evers of Memphis, Tenn.; daughter, Edie Evers of San Francisco, Calif.; sister, Edith O'Brien of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, David Wesley Evers IV, Jennifer Collins, Andy Evers, Nathan Evers, Samantha Evers, Brooke Evers, Harrison Evers and Grant Evers; and great-grandchildren, Mia Collins, Charles Collins and Molly Collins.
