Margaret Tomlinson

Mrs. Margaret Evelyn Shields Tomlinson , 91, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at River Region Hospital in Vicksburg.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2013 at Memorial Garden Park Cemetery in Starkville with Dr. Matt Buckles officiating.
Welch Memorial Funeral Home of Starkville is in charge of arrangements.  

She spent her years rearing her family in Starkville, where she was Director of Nurses at Mississippi State University Student Health Center for over 20 years, before her retirement. 

After retirement, she moved to be with her family in Vicksburg where she lived for the remainder of her life. 

She was affectionately known by her friends and family as GaGa.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Collura of Ponchatoula, La.; son, Bill Tomlinson (Nina) of Vicksburg; brother, Hoyle Shields of Macclenny, Fla.; and grandchildren, Jessie Humble (Billy) of Plano, Texas and Will Tomlinson (Katy) of Vicksburg. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyle A. Shields and Evelyn Davis Shields of Shreveport, La.; her husband, Bill Tomlinson of Starkville; brother, Winfred Shields of Shreveport, La.; and sister, Alice Goins of Houston, Texas. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Mississippi Baptist Children's Village, 114 Marketridge Drive, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
