MCCOMB – The Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers met no resistance Friday night in improving their record to 28-0 as they defeated Parklane Academy 61-20.
Starkville Academy jumped out to a 25-3 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. The Lady Vols held a 35-11 advantage at the half.
It was more of the same in the second half as the Lady Vols outscored their host 26-9.
Starkville Academy hit 46.2 percent (24-of-52) from the field and only missed one of its free throws (5-of-6).
The Lady Vols held Parklane to only one assist, while dishing out 13 of their own. Maridee Higginbotham had five of those assists and she also picked up four steals.
Maggie Proffitt also had four steals for SA to go along with a team-leading 21 points and seven rebounds. Nora Kathryn Carroll scored in double digits with 11 points.
The Lady Vols return home after the long road trip when they face Presbyterian Christian today.

MCCOMB – The Vols saw their records fall even at 12-12 overall and 5-5 in Class AAA-District II with the loss.
Carnail Minor led SA with 16 points, while Brandon Sharp also scored in double figures with 12 points.
After the long road trip, the Vols and Lady Vols return home for action today when Presbyterian Christian comes to town. The tips for junior high action is set for 2 p.m.
