There were plenty of runs to be had at the Starkville softball field Thursday night, but there wasn't enough to give the Lady Yellowjackets a victory.
In only its second game of the season, SHS lost a 24-12 decision to Choctaw Central.
The Lady Jackets only scored one run to the same team last season, so head coach Wendy Jolly considers it an improvement.
"I was really proud of the 12 runs," Jolly said. "You have to give it to Choctaw Central because they hit the ball."
Shanele Johnson and Sasha Shurden led Starkville at the plate with two hits each.
The Lady Jackets, who fell to 0-2, play four games at the Tupelo Jamboree today and Saturday. In today's action, they take on Nettleton at 5:30 p.m. and Mooreville at 8:30 p.m.
