Representatives for candidates for the 1st and 2nd Congressional District races will be the guest speakers at Saturday’s meeting of the Starkville TEA Party.
Starkville TEA Party organizers said the public is invited to hear Mabel Murphree and Philip Griffin discuss the political effects of the U.S. House of Representative races in congressional Districts 1 and 2.
Oktibbeha County is located within the Third Congressional District.
Murphree is the campaign manager for State Sen. Alan Nunnelee, Republican candidate for Mississippi’s 1st Congressional District.
Griffin is the campaign manager for Bill Marcy, Republican candidate for the U.S. House from Mississippi’s 2nd Congressional District.
The Starkville TEA Party will hold its regular monthly meeting from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Fellowship Baptist Church on 1491 Frye Road, Starkville.
Organizers said Starkville TEA Party members who attended the August 28 “Restoring Honor Rally” in Washington, D.C. will also share their experiences from the event.
Starkville Tea Party member Jud Ward said registered voters throughout the area are welcome to attend and participate in local Tea Party meetings and events.
Ward said there are no membership fees.
Ward said registered voters should share the core values of the group, including:
• Free market.
• Limited constitutional government.
• Fiscal responsibility at all levels of government.
