After winning four straight state championships from 2006 to 2009 and again last year in fast-pitch softball, East Webster is taking a turn at playing for a slow-pitch title.
“It is just a testament to our players,” Lady Wolverines coach Lee Berryhill said. “They made the commitment. They work and they want to get better that is the key. You have players that will work it gives you an opportunity.”
Playing for a state championship has been a “common goal” of the East Webster team from day one. Each and every day at practice they work hard and every game they come out improved and striving to “extend the season” by one more game.
“The girls bought in last year,” Berryhill said. “They work and compete like I ask them to do. If you do that and get better and better, it gives you an opportunity. That is where we are now and I am just proud of them.”
