SCOOBA – There hasn't been much adversity thrown in the face of the East Mississippi Community College Lions this season.
The Lions faced their first real test Saturday. They responded nicely.
No. 2 EMCC overcame a 7-point halftime deficit, as they beat No. 5 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College 45-28 in a MACJC semifinal game at Sullivan-Windham Field.
"Everybody says this is the first time we've played against anybody," EMCC head coach Buddy Stephens said. "We faced some adversity in the first half and the guys did a great job of coming out in the second half, putting everything behind them and just playing."
The Lions will host No. 4 Jones County Junior College next Saturday in the MACJC championship game.
The 45 points for EMCC are the lowest it has scored all season long, while the 28 points given up are the most.
