Nearly 51 years ago, a Mississippi State basketball team defied the race barrier and competed in the NCAA Tournament.
What has become known as the "Game of Change," the Bulldogs snuck out of Starkville one cold 1963 night to go play the Loyola Ramblers, composed mostly of African Americans, to participate in postseason play.
Loyola beat the Bulldogs that night 61-51.
The Bulldogs and Ramblers will meet once again, this time in Starkville. MSU (4-1) hosts Loyola (3-4) inside Humphrey Coliseum today. Tipoff is set for noon.
The Ramblers beat the Bulldogs 59-51 last year in Chicago in the first game between the two schools since 1963.
