A downed Tennessee Valley Authority power pole left roughly 6,000 4-County Electric Power Association customers without power on Tuesday, keeping hundreds in the dark for more than 10 hours.
A 4-County press release issued Tuesday afternoon said the TVA pole located in southeast Oktibbeha County, which held a transmission line to 4-County’s Lakeside and Oktoc substations, fell at about 5 a.m. Within an hour, TVA and 4-County had restored power to the Lakeside substation, reducing the number of customers without electricity to about 3,000 in southern Oktibbeha County. By noon, 4-County had cut that number to about 1,000, according to the release, and TVA had replaced the pole and restrung the line, allowing 4-County to restore power to the remaining affected customers, by 3:30 p.m.
