There is story after story about team’s coming from the underdog position to do great things.
This weekend Starkville's 12-year-old squad became one of those.
After dropping into the loser’s bracket on day two of the Dizzy Dean North State Tournament, Starkville battled its way back to a spot in the championship game.
“Most coaches would say being in the loser’s bracket is a scary feeling,” Starkville coach Leonardo Thompson said. “For us, it was our friend. We were able to play more games and the more we played the stronger we got. The team gelled together and that is what carried us through.”
Even with all of the fight the team possessed, the championship title eluded Starkville following a 15-5 loss to Grenada Youth on Tuesday.
