Starkville Christian freshman Austin Foxx is this week’s academic all-star because of his high academic standards for himself and his shining personality, according to his teacher Alison Calhoun.
“Austin has always been a high achiever in academics,” Calhoun said. “If something if not up to the stands that he know he can achiever, he quickly makes revisions in his attitude or prioritizes his study habits. He is very coachable and receptive to a teacher’s request.”
Austin is consistently on the A and B honor roll and names physical science as his favorite subject in school.
“I enjoy learning about matter and how it was created by God. I am looking forward to subjects like Chemistry and Physics in the next few years,” Austin said. “The more I learn in science, the more interested I get.”
Austin enjoys science so much that he already has plans to pursue a career in engineering, which makes him dedicated to his school work because he understands how difficult of a field engineering is, he said.
“I am thinking about applying to Harvard where my cousin went to school. I would eventually like to use my degree to work for the United States Army,” he said.
Austin is also known around school for his great personality.
“Austin’s smile is contagious. He knows there is a time to socialize and a time to get his head into the books,” Calhoun said. “He is very caring and concerned about other students. Many afternoons he can be found on the playground instructing younger students in basketball and other activities.”
Austin is a member of the varsity basketball team, which he was a member of even in the eighth grade.
