Even with all of the food and family, events and giving, Christmas can be a reminder of those who will not be joining in the celebration this year.
As a way of remembering those who have passed, Welch Funeral Home will host a special service Monday night.
The annual Memory Service will be a time on reflection and celebration, according to Christy Miller of Welch Funeral Home. The Memory Service will begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Welch Funeral Home.
“This is a tough time of year for families who have lost a loved one,” Miller said. “The Memory Service is a neat way to honor their memory.”
Scott Cappleman of Crosspoint Church will have a message, then family members are invited to bring a Christmas ornament to place on one of two trees that will be on display throughout the holidays at Welch Funeral Home. Family members will have an opportunity to share a Christmas or other special memory of the loved one they are honoring with the ornament.
Miller said the annual Memory Service is not a sad event. They encourage sharing memories and having a great time.
As part of this year’s event, the Palmer Home’s Children’s Choir will perform, as well as Starkville Community Theatre’s Madelyn Golden and Brad Moore.
The public is invited to attend and bring an ornament to place on the trees at Welch Funeral Home. For more information about the Memory Service, contact Welch Funeral Home at 323-5906.
