Bruce Harris, ground supervisor and on the right maintenance worker Joseph Williams, are constantly spreading leaves at McKee Park in areas that are affected by erosion. The Starkville Parks and Recreation Department would like to thank citizens for participating in the leaf collection project. Starkville Parks and Recreation Department Director Matthew Rye said the leaves have improved the area of the park that has seen significant erosion. “We are asking people to continue to help us by bringing there bagged leaves and bagged pine straw to McKee Park,” Rye said. “As you enter the park, go all the way back near the Large Pavilion and you will see signs that say drop leaves here.” Rye estimates that local citizens have donated about 1,500 bags so far this fall/winter.
