It will be a night of introductions at Starkville High School's Yellowjacket Stadium on Friday.
"Meet the Jackets" is set to begin at 6 p.m. where football teams from the eighth grade, ninth grade and varsity teams will be presented along with junior high, freshman and high school cheerleaders and the junior high and high school bands.
"We're looking for a great night with nothing formal, but it will be a time to do kind of a who's who and let people put a name with a face," said Starkville head coach Jamie Mitchell. "We'd love for the community to come out and we're hoping to have some folks who will come to see the Yellowjackets and even some of our young ones.
"A lot of this will be parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles and that's great, but we do hope to have some true Yellowjacket fans who come as well and we're going to do the best we can to put on a pretty good show."
Following the introductions, Mitchell will send Starkville's varsity team out onto the field for a controlled scrimmage. The scrimmage is expected to last a little more than an hour.
"We need to get under the lights with some officials and try to find out a little more about whether we've made some progress or not," Mitchell said.
The Jackets are in the midst of their second week of preseason practice.
Season parking passes available
The SHS athletic department has also announced that parking passes for the 2010 season are now available at the athletic complex.
The passes are $25 each and only 150 will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
"These will be the premier parking in the lot so we're hoping the people will gobble those up pretty quick," Mitchell said.
