Readers are invited to a special artists’ reception from 2 to 4 p.m. today for the “Hat’s Off to Carole” exhibit currently on display at the Starkville Daily News office.
“Hat’s Off to Carole” gives readers an opportunity to view some of the paintings they have been reading about in the Lifestyles section each Sunday.
Thirty-seven paintings by Carole McReynolds Davis are featured in a special display in the SDN office beginning Monday. The exhibit titled “Hats off to Carole” will run through March 7.
Some of Davis’ favorites in this collection are “The Lady In Pink,” “Ned Gandy,” “You Cling To Every Thread That Clings To Me...Lawrence Johnson,” “John Thomas McReynolds, Last Dairyman In Oktibbeha County,” “Daffodil Hill,” and “Run Mallory Ann, Run!”
For those who know Davis, her “love affair” with hats is legendary throughout Starkville, thus the exhibit title, “Hats off to Carole!”
The column began with “The Purple Iris” in 2010, and since then, Davis has written weekly columns for the Starkville Daily News. This exhibit features the original paintings from some of the columns written throughout the year.
The exhibit will be on display during regular working hours. The Starkville Daily News office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
