Janice Chapman Orr, 71, of Starkville, died on April 6, 2011, at Northeast Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Mrs. Orr was born February 23, 1940, to Hubert Jefferson Chapman and Annie Ruth Collins Chapman in Lewisburg, Tenn., who preceded her in death. She was a retired secretary with Mississippi State University Poultry Science Department and a member of Starkville Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles R. Orr of Starkville; daughter, Kimberly Orr Harmon (Carl) of Asheboro, N.C.; son, Richard Orr (Kimberly) of Pelahatchie; grandchildren, Lauren Pate, Will Moss and Callie Coward, all of Asheboro, N.C., Aaron and Matthew Orr of Starkville, Coby Cabaniss and Hollie and Blake Orr, all of Pelahatchie; and great-grandchildren, Kierstyn Pate and Emma Grace Moss of Asheboro, N.C.; sister, Patricia Elliott (Larry) of Union City, Tenn.; brother, Collins Chapman (Anna) of Lewisburg, Tenn.; aunts, Lillian Wakefield (Alfred) and Sallie Tingle of Lewisburg, Tenn.; sisters-in-law, Martha Short and Anna Clark (Eugene) of Lewisburg, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled for today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 8 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Welch Funeral Home. Rev. Luskey Greene, minister of Houston Church of Christ of Houston will conduct the service.
There will be a memorial visitation on Saturday, April 9 from 1 to 3 p.m. at London Funeral Home in Lewisburg, Tenn. Burial will follow at Temple Cemetery in Farmington, Tenn. at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Memorial donations may be made to Starkville Church of Christ in Starkville, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., or the American Multiple Sclerosis Society.
