The final bond issue bids for the Starkville School District have been accepted.
During a special called meeting Tuesday night, the Board of Trustees bid out the final three projects of the bond issue.
“We had bid openings for the toilet renovations and also the foundation repairs and the paving program,” Assistant Supt. Walter Gonsoulin said.
Supt. Judy Couey added that the reason for the special called meeting is for the paving bid as asphalt prices are libel to change between now and the next regularly scheduled board meeting, so she wanted the board to go ahead and lock in the price quoted.
West Brothers Construction Company submitted a low bid of $997,800 for the renovation of restrooms and another low bid of $511,747 for the paving of the Millsaps parking lot.
Before the projects were bid out, the district projected a cost of $1.5 million for the bathroom renovations.
The West Brothers’ bid not only came in under the project cost, but they were also able to include renovations to all the restrooms of the schools in the district, including Millsaps. West Brothers also came in more than $188,000 under the projected bid for the paving project.
Ralph McKnight and Sons submitted a low bid of $113,179 for foundation repairs at Starkville High School.
All three bids were accepted.
