After an investigation by the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office, the county coroner and state medical examiner, a body discovered on Sept. 4 was identified by officials Wednesday as Virginia T. Hood, 45, of 209 South 29th Ave., Apt. 13, Hattiesburg.
Deputies were dispatched to a wooded area off County Lake Road on Sept. 4 after a body was discovered by a group of all-terrain vehicle riders.
Hood was identified by the state medical examiner’s office through dental records, OCSO officials said, but no foul play is suspected.
OCSO Commander Brett Watson said Hood recently moved to the county from Hattiesburg.
Deputies will continue investigating Hood’s death.
