EUPORA – After a pair of tough losses to divisional foes in back-to-back weeks, Eupora was hoping to regroup itself Friday night hosting Williams-Sullivan.
The Eagles did just that, returning to the win column with a 47-0 homecoming victory over the Yellow Jackets.
Though Eupora was playing on the heels of a pair of tough defeats at the hands of Hamilton and Ackerman, Eagles head coach Junior Graham said his club bounced back in a big way Friday.
“After last week, we were kind of concerned,” said Graham. “But (the team) came out on homecoming with all the distractions and I thought they handled everything very well and they executed well.
“We also had the opportunity to play a lot of folks and gain some experience for the future. That’s always a plus, but we know we’ve got a big week ahead of us.”
Eupora (5-4 overall, 2-2 in Region 2-2A) returns to action next week hosting county rival East Webster.
In a game that doesn’t need any added stipulations, this year’s battle of Webster county foes has just that.
The winner of the game will capture the No. 3 seed from Class 2A, Region 2, with the loser relegated to No. 4.
“It’s a big game regardless of playoffs simply because it’s a county rival,” said Graham. “So there’s just a lot of reasons to stay focused and play with a lot of intensity and give a good effort next week.”
