As Starkville Community Market wraps up its season this Saturday, and organizers encourage residents to load up on produce and crafts.
The Market will be open from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday on the lot on the northwest corner of Jackson and Lampkin streets.
Market organizers say they wish to offer a large “thank you” to volunteers, vendors and patrons for working so hard and giving the Market their spare time to help.
This week at Market, a special music guest, Kevin Larkin, will perform. Larkin plays the mandolin, banjo and harmonica and will start playing around 9 a.m.
“Kevin Larkin is no stranger to the Starkville music scene. A mandolin player for Oxford’s Mayhem String Band, they have played at just about every venue in town,” says Tom Henderson.
Do not forget the Market after this weekend because there will be a few events to take place this fall.
The Market will be open for the Downtown Pumpkinpalooza Oct. 29, and we will also have a Christmas Market on Dec. 4.
Also, Market organizers are kicking off a big fund-raising campaign for additional improvements and expansion of the Market, including new equipment, plants, program expansion (children’s educational programs, larger events, and so on) and raising operating capital.
More information on the fundraiser will be publicized at a later date.
