The pens are full of ink and the letter of intents are ready to be signed across the area this morning.
As part of National Signing Day, several high school athletes are ready to take the next step in their careers.
Highlighting the activity will be six football players at Starkville High School who helped the Yellowjackets reach the Class 5A State Championship game last season.
"They led us to the promise land," SHS football coach Jamie Mitchell said. "It's the first group of seniors through here in quite a while to play for a state championship.
"I think our seniors (in 2010) did a great job of laying a foundation and this group of seniors took it and built on it. We're losing some really good players out of that group, but it's always an honor to see those guys go on and get a chance to play at the next level."
Offensive and defensive lineman Eric Rogers of the Jackets committed to Delta State Monday morning and plans to make it official today. Expected to sign junior college scholarships for the Yellowjackets are Corey Cannon, Stanley Childs, Kelvin Young, Dennis Ware and Latajah Bush.
At Eupora, offensive lineman Daulton Newman will sign with John Hopkins University.
Football players at other area schools may make their choices in the near future, while there are also some soccer scholarships to be signed today.
