TAYLORSVILLE – The East Webster High School girls' basketball team's magical run ended with heartbreak Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Wolverines fell to Bay Springs 43-41 in the first round of the Class 2A South State Tournament.
With 35 seconds remaining, East Webster held a two point lead, but a turnover gave the ball to the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Bulldogs were fouled but missed the free throw.
They regained control of the ball and made a 3-pointer. The Lady Wolverines bid at a 3 in the final seconds hit the front of the rim and fell off.
The Lady Wolverines held a 13-12 after one. It was tied 27 all at halftime. Bay Springs took a 37-35 lead into the final frame.
Freshman Quantesha Patterson led East Webster with 28 points. Jada Washington added 10 points.

BROOKHAVEN – The Titans two days removed from an emotional win over Hinds AHS could not get it together in Class A South State action.
The Red Devils took an early lead and ended the first quarter up 18-9.
They entered the locker room at halftime ahead 32-23 and extended their lead in the third quarter to enter the final frame ahead 53-37.
Devontae Lucious led the Titans with 17 points. Davalyn Bell and Christ Harris each had 13 points.

BIGGERSVILLE – The Timberwolves could not hold on to a first-half lead as their season came to an abrupt end.
West Oktibbeha jumped out to a 14-12 lead after the first quarter and kept a two-point advantage of 31-29 at halftime. The Timberwolves continued to lead by two points through three quarters.
Dontaveous Crawford led West Oktibbeha with 20 points.
