Monday Mississippi State head coach Rick Ray picked up the third commitment since he joined the Bulldog family. Colin Borchert, of East Mississippi Community College, has decided to call Starkville home for the next two season as he has committed to MSU.
Borchert was tabbed as a Junior College All-American this past season after averaging 15.3 points per game with 7.7 rebounds. He also had 41 blocked shots and made 41 three-points baskets while shooting 38 percent from beyond the arc. Standing 6-foot-8, 225 pounds Borchert would make a solid addition to Wendell Lewis and Kristers Zeidaks in the post.
In other Bulldog hoops news, P. J. Hardwick has decided to re-open his recruitment and has been issued release papers from Mississippi State.
The 5-10 point guard from Houston, Tx. signed with the Bulldogs last fall with his teammate Josh Gray. Two weeks ago Gray was granted his release from the National Letter of Intent he signed last fall, the same request that has now been granted to Hardwick.
Last season Hardwick averaged 15 points and 10 assists to go with six rebounds per outing at Christian Life.
The signing period for college basketball remains open until May 16th.
