MSU libraries presents Charles H. Templeton Ragtime and Jazz Festival: Silent Movies. Jeff Barnhart, returning Charles H. Templeton Ragtime and Jazz Festival solo artist and artistic director, will show silent movies during this event taking place as part of the MSU Libraries' 10th annual Charles H. Templeton Ragtime and Jazz Festival.

"Salvaged Splendor" Exhibit Reception

Join the Mississippi State College of Architecture, Art and Design's art department for a reception celebrating the opening of its "Salvaged Splendor" exhibit! Free to all through March 10 in the Colvard Student Union Art Gallery.

Donate Water

Starkville Police Department
If you are interested in donating water for Flint, Michigan, you may do so by bringing it to the Starkville Police Department. Water donations will be accepted until February 13, 2016. Razor Trucking Company, located in Starkville, will be transporting the water to Flint, Michigan on February 15, 2016!

If impossible to bring your pets indoors, please provide sufficient shelter including protections from the cold and wind.

Nominations wanted for Powe, research awards

The nomination period is now open for Mississippi State University's 2016 Research Awards and the Ralph E. Powe Research Excellence Award. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to submit nominations for this year's program.

MSU considers hoverboard ban in buildings

Citing safety concerns, Mississippi State is expected to approve a university policy change this month to prevent the use of hoverboards inside all campus buildings. The prohibition of hoverboards in residence halls is effective immediately. MSU is joining SEC schools Louisiana State University and the University of Alabama in the ban, along with many others across the nation such as George Washington and American universities and the University of Connecticut.

Sheriff Warns of Scam

Oktibbeha County Sheriff Steve Gladney wants residents to be aware of numerous phone scam schemes attempting to con money out of people's bank accounts. Gladney said his department is investigating numerous complaints of scammers posing as officials with the local circuit clerk's office and the IRS. Scammers are even falsely claiming to be affiliated with the Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Department's citations division -- a non-existent department. Gladney said it appears some of the calls originated from Wisconsin and Illinois, but one call was placed within the local 662 area code.
