MSU Wind Ensemble fall concert takes place Thursday

STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State’s Wind Ensemble presents its first concert of the 2015 fall semester Thursday [Oct. 1] in the university’s McComas Hall theater.
Free to all, the 7:30 p.m. performance is directed by Elva Kaye Lance, MSU director of bands and an instructor in the music department, which is sponsoring the event.

MSU records historic number of students, first-time freshmen

Mississippi State is welcoming a record number of students this fall, including an unprecedented 17 percent increase in first-time freshmen at the university.
According to MSU enrollment data, overall enrollment stands at 20,873, an increase of 735 students from the fall 2014 enrollment of 20,138. The previous record was set in fall 2011 when 20,424 students were enrolled.

Holiday Bazaar Vendor Applications Available

The Starkville Main Street Association (SMSA), a member agency of the Greater Starkville Development Partnership, invites you to participate in the 2015 Holiday Bazaar! This indoor show features 92 booths. In its 43rd year, it is a tradition in the Starkville area and recruits thousands of shoppers. Miss Mississippi First Runner Up

Miss Mississippi Hannah Roberts has been selected for first runner-up in the Miss America 2016 competition. Roberts was picked ninth out of the top 12 to do her talent, in which she plays Zapateado, No. 2, Opus 23 on the violin.

Shades of Starkville

Monday, August 24, 2015 - 10:00 am to 2:00 pm The Center for Student Activities at Mississippi State is hosting Shades of Starkville on Monday [Aug. 24] from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Drill Field. Students can visit booths and displays from a variety of student organizations, campus services and more than 50 local businesses for information, samples, coupons and other free promotional items. Students are encouraged to come out between classes to see how they can make the most of their time in Starkville and get involved during their time at Mississippi State.
