Mississippi State linebacker Gerri Green was selected to the All-Southeastern Conference Freshman Team in a vote by the league’s coaches, the conference announced Thursday. With the selection, Green became the 12th Bulldog in seven years under head coach Dan Mullen to be chosen to the team.
Green played in all 12 regular season games this fall, tallying 44 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and one interception. His 44 stops ranked fifth for an SEC freshman and third among freshman linebackers.
Every player under Mullen who has been picked All-SEC Freshman has gone on to sign an NFL contract following their collegiate playing career.
The Greenville native returns to action Wednesday, Dec. 30, as MSU battles North Carolina State in the Belk Bowl. The 2:30 p.m. kickoff at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, will be televised live on ESPN.
