It has been life in two different regions for the Starkville High School boys and girls golf teams this season.

On Monday the Yellowjackets will all be on the home course as one as the Starkville Country Club hosts the Class 6A, Region 2 for girls and Region 3 for boys meets. The tee time is 9 a.m.

The SHS girls are competing against Tupelo, Oxford and Columbus, while the Jackets will see Madison Central and Northwest Rankin.

"The girls have beaten Oxford and Tupelo already and we're looking to have a real good day from that," SHS golf coach Angela Hobart said. "The boys and Northwest Rankin have been very close in several different tournaments. We haven't played against Madison Central, but we know they have some really good golfers the shoot in the low 70s. It's going to be interesting."

For the Lady Jackets, KB Hobart and Paige Lemm have been together for the last several years and have developed some chemistry. That pair along with the contributions of Kyra Moorhead are expected to pace the team.

"If (Hobart and Lemm) can both just be in the 80s, that's way better than a team with a girl in the 60s and a girl in the 100s," coach Hobart said. "Moorhead in the No. 3 spot. She has improved greatly. She started out in the 120s and she is now down in the 90s already in one season. She is a junior so we'll have her back next year."

The other members of the SHS girls are Madelyn Methvin, Maggie Miller, Rachel Adair, Ashton Deweese and Grace May. The boys roster has Will Barefield, Kohen Hunt, Brooks Jenkins, Caleb Butler, Zach Buntin, Braxton Jenkins, Cooper Williamson and James McKinney

Spectators are welcome to come watch the event. Carts will be available for rent at the club and they must stay on the cart path.
