This week at the Community Market

The weather is hot, and those who can’t beat the heat are invited to come to the Starkville Community Market and join it.
The market will be taking place again this Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. at the corner of Lampkin and Jackson streets, serving Starkville with the areas freshest produce, great music, and stunning crafts.
While shopping at the market, don’t miss the chance to shop with this week’s spotlight vendor, Lynn Berch of Berch Bakery.
Berch was kind enough to answer the spotlight questions this week; here is what she had to say:

How/why did you get involved with the Starkville Community Market?

Berch: “My oldest daughter loves baking. Last year both of my daughters (Marlaina & Kristina) needed an income for the summer so we decided to work the market. We loved the community so much we continued to work the market.”

Why should people buy from local and sustainable producers?
Berch: “You are supporting the local farmers and bakers. I can speak for myself, our products are fresh. Everything that we make is made the night before the market.”

What is your most popular product at the Market?

Berch: “We have 3 very popular items, lemonade, salsa, and marble wheat loves. Although all of our items are very popular.”

Do you have any special products in the next two months that you’d like to highlight?

Berch: “I think you will fall in love with our salsa and shortbread.
“I am sorry to say Marlaina will be leaving for college at Millsaps next week which means we will not have all the breads we have had all summer but we will have wonderful dips and the fresh lemonade.”

What’s one thing Starkville Community Market customers don’t know about you?

Berch: “I was in the restaurant business about 20 years.”

What are your future plans?

Berch: “To work the market for many years to come. We would like to make it bigger and better.”

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Berch: “I love pasta. By the way, we make fresh pesto.”

Those who would like to show their support can stop by the Community Market table and purchase some hot or iced coffee or a cool T-shirt.
