OCHS to host 4th annual Celebrity Wait Night

Staff Writer

Oktibbeha County Humane Society's fourth annual Celebrity Wait Night will be 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on July 10 at Harveys in Starkville, featuring a silent auction, wine raffle and celebrity waiters.

OCHS Director of Development and Community Relations said 100 percent of tips waiters make during the night will benefit OCHS's day-to-day operations.

Celebrity waiters for the night include Leah Beasley, Mark Coblentz, John Cohen, Nelle Cohen, Jim Ellis, Rhett Hobart, Sean McDonnall, Frank Nichols, Ryan Phillips, Lisa Pritchard, Mike Richey, Jeffrey Rupp, Glenn Schmidt, Aundrea Self, Lynn Spruill, Vann Stuedeman, Jerry Toney and Amy Tuck.

"It's super fun, and everyone seems to have a great time," Thomas said. "We're really grateful to have our local celebrities come out to support this event and their local humane society."

Thomas said previous years have raised between $7,000 and $8,000, and the Celebrity Wait Night is one of the biggest fundraisers for the shelter each year.

Thomas said due to the popularity of the event in the past, Harveys will not be accepting reservations on the night of the event.

"Another feature we have new to this year is a wine pull raffle. Essentially folks can buy a raffle ticket for a certain amount, and they can win a mystery bottle that's valued over that amount," Thomas said. "It's going to be something fun and interesting to get to try a new wine that you've never tried before."

The Celebrity Wait Night will also feature a silent auction with donated items from businesses and individuals throughout the community.

Some of the donated items include a bicycle from Boardtown Bikes, artwork from Kristina Jurusik, cowhide purse and wristlet from Uptown Rustic Boutique, bow tie and earrings from It's a Date, a MSU photo by Hunter Hart framed by The Chalet, a maroon Adidas MSU polo donated by the MSU Office of the President, MSU football signed by Coach Joe Moorhead, “Welcome to Fabulous Starkvegas” metal sign from The Welding Works, cowbell table lamp from J. Britt Lighting, MSU painted gourd bird house by Betty Sparrow, Masseyville bowl and dish by Amy Massey, bikini wax and facial from The Beauty Bar, bath bombs and drink cubes from Glo, MSU apparel from the MSU Office of the President, a subscription to Starkville Daily News, signed copy of “Flim Flam” by Steve Robertson, a Gallo wine goody basket from Gallo Wine, gift certificates to Brittany's Paw-some Pet Care, Bananas for Bulldogs cowbell by Vicki Burnett, jewelry from Judy Jones, custom house or pet painting from Emaline Art, Bulldog Window Painting from Gales Heavenly Expressions and MSU prints from the MSU Office of Public Affairs.

"We're very grateful to Harveys for hosting this event and Clark Beverage for sponsoring it," Thomas said. "We're looking forward to it and appreciate the support."
