Starkville 10-year-olds set for Dizzy Dean WS

Coach Brad Cohen believes his Starkville 10-year-old Dizzy Dean All-Star are prepared, rested and ready for a run at a World Series championship.
Starkville has enjoyed two quality practices after winning the Overall State Tournament two weeks ago.
“We had a good practice Sunday afternoon out at my house,” Cohen said. “We grilled some hamburgers and hot dogs. I’ve got a batting cage and we took some cuts. We took some infield and outfield out there in my back yard.”
Starkville practiced again Wednesday. Other than that, Cohen said his team will take a break and then “head to the World Series.”
Starkville’s World Series experience will begin on Saturday in Southaven at Snowden Park.
Cohen reports there at noon today and a drawing to determine the bracket and times will take place at 2 p.m. As of Thursday afternoon, there is a list of 20 teams set to participate in the World Series. The teams attending the World Series along with Starkville are Clarksdale, Greenville, Hernando, Marshall County Intimidators (Independence), Clanton All-Stars (Clanton, Ala.), Centerpoint All-Stars (Centerpont, Ala.), Huffman All-Stars (Birmingham, Ala.), Jackson County Nationals (Section, Ala.), Madison City Blue (Madison, Ala.), Madison County Mayhem (Tony, Ala.), PAT All-Stars (Birmingham, Ala.), Walker County Patriots (Carbon Hill, Ala.), Albany All-Stars (Albany, Ga.), Canton Stingers (Canton, Ga.), Andrews Wildcats (Andrews, N.C.), Bolivar All-Stars (Bolivar, Tenn.), Germantown All-Stars No. 1 (Germantown, Tenn.), Germantown All-Stars No. 2 (Germantown, Tenn.) and Harrison All-Stars (Harrison, Tenn.)
After winning six out of seven games to win the Mississippi State title, Cohen said his players are not ready for the next challenge.
“They are excited, but there again, they are going there to win it,” Cohen said. “They really want to win this thing.”
The members of the Starkville 10-year-old All-Stars are Tylan Calvert, Bradley Key Cohen, Owen Couvillion, A’Braylen Jenkins, Brody Jones, Julian Kracker, Tyreq Hendrix, Casen Sanders, Lucian Walker and Silas Walker. Coach Cohen’s assistants are Terrell Hendrix and Slade Kracker.
